William Marcy Tweed: Original Gangster

New Yorkers, and Americans in general, are no stranger to political scandals and financial corruption. Right now we are still feeling the economic effects of Wall Street greed, special interests groups influencing Washington, and unregulated policies running our financial system. Before these people were exploited, however; there was the originator. William Marcy "Boss" Tweed. I will be posting information on one of the biggest corruption rings in American history, and how journalism helped bring down this evil empire.

Introduction

Greetings to everyone reading this. My name is Dave and this is my blog. In the coming weeks this blog will be filled with tons of info, opinions, and resources regarding various milestones in history, and journalism's influence on those milestones. How important is journalism in shaping our world? What specific, historic examples can be given to show how powerful it truly is? These questions will be answered throughout the semester.
